My name is Caroline Soutan and I am the Family Liaison Officer (FLO) for Lyminge Church of England Primary School. I am also a parent of the school. My job is to increase communication between the school and families and to help support you all to ensure that the children learn well and flourish.
What is a FLO?
A FLO is an additional source of support for parents and can help with a wide variety of issues, not just those connected with education. A FLO can provide information, help and support in many areas such as health, parenting skills, training, finance, relationship breakdown and employment, as well as starting school or moving to secondary school.
The key role of the FLO is to work with families to help overcome any barriers to children’s learning by providing advice and support in those difficult times when it can be hard to know where to turn.
Until recently, I worked for KCC within in the Kent Integrated Family Support Service Team. I am fortunate to have access to a wide range of other agencies, as I recognise that sometimes it can take a team from different areas to find the right solution. I have also regularly volunteered as a Family Advice Worker for Homestart.
Here for you
I am here to help you as parents and carers in a non-judgemental way with any problems, issues or worries you may have or I am around for a general chat. I have a good listening ear and am able to help you with most things and if I can’t directly help I will try to find someone who can. All information is kept confidential subject to the usual child protection guidelines.
To get in touch you may either telephone or e-mail me CSoutan@lyminge.kent.sch.uk or pop into school and see me personally.
I look forward to meeting you all.
