Welcome to Year 1!
Friday 22nd September 2017
Thank you for the first lot of homework this week. It is clear the children (and parents) have been doing some amazing home learning!
In English, we have finished writing our stories about going on a cow hunt. We found the spotty cow hiding in the adventure playground! We used time connectives (first, next, then, etc...) to tell the story in order. Our writing focus was using capital letters and full stops. Next week we will begin a non-fiction unit about hedgehogs. We will be writing captions, list and labels.
In Maths, we've continue our work with place value and counting. We have been counting in steps of 2, solving problems and using the vocabulary more, less, equal, most, least. Next week we will be investigating number bonds to 10, adding and subtracting numbers as well as solving simple word problems.
In our topic work we've created stained glass Autumn leaves, worked on our ball bouncing skills, began using the paint program on the laptops and learned about the 4 countries of the United Kingdom.
Well done to our learner of the week - Thomas!
Have a lovely weekend!
