Welcome from Chair of Governors

My name is Tricia Stewart and I am Chair of Governors of Lyminge Church of England Primary School. Some of you may know me already as I was previously Chair for 10 years until December 2013.

I have lived in Lyminge for nearly 40 years and have 2 sons who grew up in the village. They attended the school in the old building that used to be near the Church. Although they now live elsewhere, they still view Lyminge as a place to visit regularly that is filled with fond memories.

I was Headteacher of 2 schools in Shepway before becoming an Advisory Headteacher, working throughout Kent to support failing schools. I have been involved in Education for over 45 years and remain excited and enthused by the prospect of ensuring that children are challenged and encouraged to fulfil their potential.

The Governing Body of Lyminge Church of England Primary School is made up of a group of volunteers from all walks of life who share a commitment to the school. They meet as a body 6 times a year and as committees, groups or as individuals to monitor and support all aspects of the school through the School Improvement Plan - Teaching and Learning, Social and Emotional well-being, Safeguarding, Personnel issues, Finance and Buildings. The minutes of Full Governing Body meetings are available to be read on the School's website. They are held in the school office and can also be viewed by prior arrangement with the clerk, Mrs Susan Foster at sfoster@lyminge.kent.sch.uk

We are privileged to be a part of a hardworking, conscientious team of teaching and non-teaching staff under the leadership of Mrs Helen D'cruz, Headteacher. The focus is always the well-being of the children of the school. Within this team, the Governors act as a support and critical friend. They are not involved in the day to day running of the school.

If in the event of you having a problem concerning your child, your first port of call must be your child’s teacher. If you the find the problem has not been solved your next step is to meet with the Headteacher to discuss and, hopefully, resolve the issue. If, on the rare occasion, you still do not find satisfaction, you may contact me by way of a formal letter of complaint through Mrs Susan Foster, the Clerk to the Governors at sfoster@lyminge.kent.sch.uk or via the school.

All details can be found in the Complaints Policy on the school website.

I am always proud to be associated with Lyminge Church of England Primary School and look forward to it going from strength to strength in the future.

Tricia Stewart
