Welcome from Chair of Governors
My name is Sarah Montgomery and it has been my privilege to serve as Chair of Governors since September 2022. I have been a governor at Lyminge School for over 10 years, initially as a Community Governor but more recently as a Foundation Governor. Before that I served on the Governing Body of Hythe Bay Primary School. I have been a GP since 1986, in Hythe, Folkestone and now Lyminge. Our Vice Chair is Mr Kyle Davies, who also chairs the school's Finance and Resources Committee.
At Lyminge Church of England Primary School, the Governing Board is made up of a group of volunteers from all walks of life who share a commitment to the school. We are responsible for setting its strategic direction and ensuring it provides value for money and a safe environment for children and staff. We meet together as a Board six times a year and we also serve on committees and visit the school in pairs or as individuals to monitor and support staff in delivering all sections of the School Improvement Plan - Effectiveness of Leadership and Management, Finance, Quality of Teaching and Learning and Assessment, Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare. The minutes of Full Governing Body meetings are published on the School website and can also be viewed by prior arrangement with the Clerk, Mrs Susan Foster at sfoster@lyminge.kent.sch.uk
Governors are not involved in the day to day running of the school but act as critical friends to the hardworking, conscientious team of teaching and non-teaching staff under the leadership of our Headteacher, Matt Day. Our School Vision is at the heart of school life so that the focus is always on the well-being and flourishing of all the children of the school.
In the event of you having a problem concerning your child, your first port of call must be your child’s teacher. If you then find the problem has not been solved, your next step is to meet with the Headteacher to discuss and, hopefully, resolve the issue. If, on the rare occasion, you feel the problem has still not been resolved, you may contact the Chair by way of a formal letter of complaint through Mrs Susan Foster, the Clerk to the Governors at sfoster@lyminge.kent.sch.uk or via the school. All details can be found in the Complaints Policy on the school website.
