Welcome from Chair of Governors

My name is Sarah Montgomery and I share the role of Co-Chair of Governors with Dawn Munn. I have been a governor at Lyminge School for over 10 years, initially as a Community Governor but more recently as a Foundation Governor. Before that I served on the Governing Body of Hythe Bay Primary School. I have been a GP in Hythe and Folkestone since 1986 and also worked overseas teaching medical staff in refugee camps and other settings. I have no children but many nephews and nieces, and I count it a privilege to be able to share in school life through my role as a governor.

My name is Dawn Munn and I am one of the Co-Chairs of Governors of Lyminge C of E Primary School. I was appointed to the Governing Body in 2014, originally as a co-opted governor, but I am now the Local Authority Governor. I have previously been a parent governor at Harvey Grammar School. My three grandchildren attended Lyminge School and they have now moved on to Secondary School. Some of you may remember me from my many teaching years at Brockhill Park School.

At Lyminge Church of England Primary School, The Governing Body is made up of a group of volunteers from all walks of life who share a commitment to the school. They meet as a body 6 times a year and as committees, groups or as individuals to monitor and support all aspects of the school through the School Improvement Plan - Effectiveness of Leadership and Management, Quality of Teaching and Learning and Assessment, Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare. The minutes of Full Governing Body meetings are published on the School website and can also be viewed by prior arrangement with the Clerk, Mrs Susan Foster at sfoster@lyminge.kent.sch.uk

We are privileged to be a part of a hardworking, conscientious team of teaching and non-teaching staff under the leadership of our Headteacher, Matt Day. The focus is always the well-being of the children of the school. Within this team, the Governors act as a support and critical friend. They are not involved in the day to day running of the school.

If. in the event of you having a problem concerning your child, your first port of call must be your child’s teacher. If you the find the problem has not been solved, your next step is to meet with the Headteacher to discuss and, hopefully, resolve the issue. If, on the rare occasion, you feel the problem has still not been resolved, you may contact us by way of a formal letter of complaint through Mrs Susan Foster, the Clerk to the Governors at sfoster@lyminge.kent.sch.uk or via the school.  All details can be found in the Complaints Policy on the school website.
