Welcome from Chair of Governors

My name is Jo Coulon and I am Chair of Governors of Lyminge Church of England Primary School. I was originally appointed to the Governing Body in January 2016 as a parent Governor but now serve as a Co-opted Governor.  My youngest son attended Lyminge CEP school and moved on to Secondary school in 2019.  My older children attended Bodsham CEP school where I also served as Chair of Governors for a number of years.

The Governing Body of Lyminge Church of England Primary School is made up of a group of volunteers from all walks of life who share a commitment to the school. They meet as a body 6 times a year and as committees, groups or as individuals to monitor and support all aspects of the school through the School Improvement Plan - Effectiveness of Leadership and Management, Quality of Teaching and Learning and Assessment, Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare. The minutes of Full Governing Body meetings are published on the School website and can also be viewed by prior arrangement with the Clerk, Mrs Susan Foster at sfoster@lyminge.kent.sch.uk

We are privileged to be a part of a hardworking, conscientious team of teaching and non-teaching staff under the leadership of our Headteacher, Matt Day. The focus is always the well-being of the children of the school. Within this team, the Governors act as a support and critical friend. They are not involved in the day to day running of the school.

If in the event of you having a problem concerning your child, your first port of call must be your child’s teacher. If you the find the problem has not been solved your next step is to meet with the Headteacher to discuss and, hopefully, resolve the issue. If, on the rare occasion, you feel the problem has still not been resolved, you may contact me by way of a formal letter of complaint through Mrs Susan Foster, the Clerk to the Governors at sfoster@lyminge.kent.sch.uk or via the school.  All details can be found in the Complaints Policy on the school website.

Jo Coulon
