Term 5
Week Three

This week we have been reading 'I am Hungry' by Michael Rosen, and designing our own menus! We have been practicing all of our phonics with lots of games and team activities. In maths, we have been using arrays to make equal groups and working on our doubles. Our cookie
monster lesson was the favourite!
We enjoyed 'Pacman' in P.E on Tuesday, and on Wednesday we had an exciting visit from a tennis coach which was great fun! We visited the woods for science on a woodland walk to observe signs of spring, and in art we started looking at the Kenyan artist Gakonga - and creating a wash background building up to our final
piece of art this term. We continued our unit on typing in computing, this week giving the entire alphabet a go! On Friday, we enjoyed another sunny forest school session and some busy learning to end another week of learning.

Week Two

We started this week with our exciting class trip to the library. The children really enjoyed exploring the books and selecting one to take home – we’re hoping to arrange another visit next term!
We have been very busy with phonics revision and games this week.
In English, we have been learning about postcards! We selected a country in Africa to take an imaginary trip to, then we did some amazing descriptive writing! The children were really proud of their work and we were too!
In maths, we have been learning about equal and unequal groups, and in science we learned more about measuring the weather in spring! In P.E this week, we worked on communication within our team and underarm throwing. We were painting houses like Esther Mahlangu in art which was great fun, and in Jigsaw we continued our work on relationships – looking at what makes a great friend. We started our next unit in computing which is all about typing!
We explored keys on a keyboard, and had a go at writing our names on the computer, using a backspace when we make a mistake, and a caps lock which was especially exciting! We enjoyed another very sunny Forest Friday - hooray! Enjoy the bank holiday all and see you on Tuesday!

Forest Friday 🌳☀️
Week One
This week we have been busy revising our phonics sounds and writing traditional tales! We have been reading Jessica Souhami's 'The Leopard's Drum', and creating our own versions that we will finish next week. In maths, we have started our unit on multiplication, counting in 2s, 5s and 10s! We have been awesome at this!

We learned about human and physical features in geography, identifying examples from Europe and Africa. We had fun continuing invasion games in P.E, and performing our latest song in music! In art, we have been learning about South African artist Esther Mahlangu and experimented with drawing geometric patterns.
We learned about the changes between winter and spring in science, and in Jigsaw we began our next unit about relationships, thinking this week about family and what it means to us. Forest Friday was blissful in the sunshine this week, and we also got to see a very brave Anthony take on the shave for Maya - go Anthony!
