Week 6 term 4
This week we continued with our FDP unit, ordering and converting, as well as finding percentages of amounts. We wrote diary entries based on a story of the Dunkirk rescue attempt (Operation Dynamo). In Art we used our contour knowledge to create huddled figures inspired by Henry Moore and in French we continued translating French text about evacuees. In P.E we performed and evaluated our dances and in Science we took part in a shadow investigation. We also recorded our singing for the Frozen competition! On the last day we made Easter cards and some of us took part in our very own Year 6 Task Master - sorry about the knees!

Week 5 term 4
This week we went through any gaps in our Maths knowledge, going through our test papers - which we found really helpful! In English, we wrote letters as Battle of Britain pilots, inspired by our recent trip. In P.E, we had one last practice of our interpretive dances telling a WW2 story. We had fun taking part in a sponsored bounce and in Computing we had a go at using Excel to party plan! We tried to see who could get closest to the allocated budget!!
Week 4 term 4
This week we looked at decimal, fraction and percentages with a focus on converting fractions into percentages in particular. We continued writing our own WW2 stories inspired by a new text and even went on a trip to the Battle of Britain museum. We not only had a tour but also got to fly a plane simulator! In Science we created periscopes to understand reflection as part of our 'Light' topic and we took part in Red Nose Day activities, including watching the adults dress up and take part in a cat walk! Mrs Vincer won!!!!

Week 3 term 4
This week we we began writing our own WW2 stories inspired by what we had read and role-played. In Maths we sat some pixl tests using all our knowledge from this year as well as the previous years! In Computing we used Excel Spreadsheet to work out calculations. In History we created double page spreads based on our Blitz research. In Art we explored using contour lines to add weight, inspired by Henry Moore's figures in the London underground, seeking refuge during WW2.
Week 2 term 4

Week 1 term 4
This week Year 6 embarked on their new WW2 topic and were full of thoughtful questions. We looked at WW2 stories and acted out being evacuees. In P.E and Music we had a go at both singing and doing the Lambeth Walk - oi! We also sent away our competition entry for the English National Opera project and created double page spreads in Art about the artist Henry Moore. We even linked to our WW2 topic in French - translating WW2 information using words we already know from previous topics.
