Week 1 term 5

This first week back has flown by - the children have been amazing with their SATs revision (and we have enjoyed the 'unfair' arithmetic games!) In English we have written formal letters for complaint based on the story 'The Island' and our reading sessions we have been answering 'impression' questions. In History, we have continued with our WW2 topic, examining the success of Operation Dynamo. In P.E we have started our athletic unit - this week was a throwing session! We also have started our cricket sessions and in Science we have started our evolution topic, examining how fossils can be evidence for this. In Computing we have started our 3D modelling unit and designed mazes and houses.

Week 2 term 5

This week we have continued with our revision in different ways - from orienteering in Maths to correcting mistakes! We have gone over different GPS topics and lots of us have enjoyed the songs! In P.E we had a jumping focus in athletics - long jump, speed bounce, triple jump, high and standing! In Computing we designed houses and keyrings with our 3d modelling software and in Science we thought about inherited and acquired characteristics. We created our own cross-breed dogs and came up with lots of ideas!

Week 3 term 5

This week was a shorter one but we managed to cram a lot in! As well as our revision sessions, we had some Science, a cricket workshop, PSHE and some more cricket at the end of the week! This week in our Computing sessions we designed pencil pots by grouping objects and making holes. Holes has been a topic of conversation this week as Year 6 have been digging a huge hole in Opal and have found many fascinating things!!!!

Week 4 term 5

Well done Year 6 on such a successful SATs week! You all displayed hard-work and resilience!

This week, we had a lot of fun including paper snowballing with old SATs papers... with even some paper snow angels! We enjoyed some bench ball (voted for by popular demand) and had a go at an adaptation investigation, using different 'beaks' to collect 'food!' In Computing we used Tinkercad to create computer game characters. We also acted out play scripts and celebrated with lots of biscuits!
