Squirrels Class Y3
Term 6
Welcome,
We hope you had a great break. It feels as if the year has flown by and unbelievably, we are now in the final term of Year 3!
This term, in English, will be learning about the features of discussions: for and against. We will have fun debating a range of topics and then construct a written balanced argument. After this, we will begin to learn some classic poetry for performance.
We will be reading all about the adventures of Wilbur the pig and his friendship with Charlotte the barn spider in the classic story, Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White.
Our focus areas in Maths will be time, shape and statistics. Please remember to keep practising the times tables (2,3,4,5, 8 and 10’s), using resources such as Times Tables Rock Stars to build fluency.
In Science we will conclude our investigations into the life cycles of plants, and the requirements needed for them to function, grow and reproduce.
We will be learning about South America – Rio and South East Brazil in Geography, and comparing the human and physical geography to where we live.
Our RE learning will answer the question; What do Hindu children believe in?
In D&T we will be exploring levers and linkages in order to design, make and evaluate a moving poster.
PE – We will be learning South American dance on Monday mornings and then Venture Sports will lead our athletics lessons on Friday afternoons. Please also ensure your child has a named PE kit in school, along with a hat and sun cream.
Sports Day takes place on Friday 13th June and our school trip will be on Monday 7th July to Samphire Hoe, details to follow shortly.
Sadly, we will say goodbye to Miss Smithson at the beginning of July, as she completes her teaching placement. We have been very lucky to have her and thank Miss Smithson for her hard work, enthusiasm and fun. We wish her every success in her future teaching career.
As always, should you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to catch us on the playground or send them in via your child's contact book or the school office.
With very best wishes,
Mrs Baker, Miss Smithson (student teacher), Miss Glenister and Mrs Bradley
