Term 5
Week One
It's been a busy first week back! In phonics, we have been learning the 'o' and 'oe' sounds, as well as revising our phase 5 psuedo words. We are learning all about Africa this term, and started this off in English with a traditional tale from West-Africa, 'The Leopard's Drum'. We have been writing descriptive sentences about the characters in the story, working really hard on using our full stops and capital letters. We've been working really hard on our handwriting too!
In maths, we have been learning to count in 2s, 10s and 5s. We did a fantastic job, and persevered with the 5s which were trickiest for most of us.
We enjoyed P.E with Miss. Glenister, working on our throwing skills in a range of activities. We also started our music for this term, having fun with improvisation.
We learned about an artist from South Africa, Esther Mahlangu, in art. We had fun using shapes to experiment with creating patterns in her style.
We learned about the changing season in science, and started our new topic in PSHE on relationships. This week we spoke about 'family' and what it means to us. We discussed how all families look different, and that all are unique and special. In computing, we began working on our typing skills - writing short sentences about ourselves. We did an amazing job! We finished the week with busy learning and enjoyed OPAL play on the field.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
