Week One

This week we have been busy revising our phonics, using known strategies to help us decode and blend. We have our phonics screening next week in class and are confident that Hedgehogs class will try their very best, which is all that matters! 

In English, we have been learning all about instructions. We have been writing our own for hungry squirrel, explaining how to make a jam sandwich. We have been using bossy words, and writing in time order to help him understand. We had a go at following our instructions at the end of the week, and enjoying a yummy jam sandwich for snack time if we wanted to. 

We have been learning about position and direction in maths - forwards, backwards, left, right, and even using our fractions to describe turns. 

In science this term, we are growing our own bean plants! We learned about the life cycle of a bean plant this week, and planted our beans in our pots. Now to wait for them to sprout! 

Our big question this term is all about Kings and Queens! In art, we drew a self-portrait as a King or Queen, using a quarter grid to help us with our positioning of features. We added fancy crowns and gowns, and thought about what we might do if we were in charge! There were some interesting ideas!! In R.E, we were learning all about the Jewish celebration 'Shabbat'. We set our own table with Shabbat candles, challah bread, and grape juice (for wine!) in a Kiddush cup. 

On Thursday afternoon we had busy learning with Owl Class and Badgers Class which was great fun. We finished the week with Venture Sports on Friday for athletics, and beginning to work on 'commands' in computing.

Sports day next week on Friday to look forward to! Have a lovely weekend! :)
