Clued spelling guidance
In Year 6 children use the PIXL ‘Clued Spelling’ system, which is an individualised spelling programme driven by the children and closely monitored by the teaching staff. Each child is allocated a set of spellings.
The set lists are based on:
•the first 300 high frequency words
•selected spellings from the next 400 - 1000 high frequency words
•Spellings from the National Curriculum for Years 3 &4 and Years 5&6
•Past SATs papers
All children are placed on a list suitable for their ability level, and through a process of self-led learning, peer support and teacher coaching they work to learn each of the words on their set using the word 'clues'.
