Term 2 gallery
Week 1 term 2
This week we have started lots of new topics! In Maths we began our fraction unit, including comparing and ordering fractions. In English we began to look at WW1 poetry and in History we researched local people of Lyminge who lost their lives in WW1 and WW2. We created remembrance art and each child created a cross for a Lyminge soldier. In Music we started our English National Opera project and the children were very excited to be given lanyards! In French we used the verb 'habiter' to think about where people live. In P.E we are doing tag rugby and gymnastics this term.

Week 2 term 2
This week has been a very busy one! We continued our fraction topic, adding and subtracting fractions by making the denominator the same by finding the LOWEST COMMON MULTIPLE. In English, we moved on from our poetry unit to non-fiction information writing. In Music we used the computers to create word clouds for the English National Opera using our chosen colour - coral orange! In History we began our Viking topic, investigating sources to decide if the Vikings were raiders or traders. On Friday, Year 6 made us very proud by holding a Remembrance Service at the church. Each child lay a cross for a fallen soldier and everyone took part in reciting a WW1 poem. Well done Year 6 for setting an excellent example to the rest of the school.

Week 3 term 2
This week we continued our Maths topic on fractions and began to multiply fractions by integers. In English we finished our Viking double page spreads - they look fantastic! In History we created 'living graphs' and considered when the Vikings had control. In Computing we have been using G-suite to communicate across the classroom and collaborate on projects together. In Music, we carried on with our English National Opera Project by looking at graphic scores. In P.E we have been doing more tag rugby and gymnastics. In PHSE the class sang a wonderful song which they are hoping to share in a collective worship. In Science we created scientific diagrams of the circuits we were challenged to make by our peers. This week, we also got to have a KIC session with Ian, exploring how the Vikings were both raiders and traders!
