Week 2 term 1
This week Year 6 had a busy one! In English we continued our dream poetry, including abstract and collective nouns, opposites and impossibilities! In Maths, we are carrying on with place value, including negative numbers and rounding. There was LOTS of P.E this week... cricket with All Stars, basketball with Venture Sports and Skip 2B Fit! In Art, we studied the artist Lancelot Ribeiro and had a go at drawing with continuous lines - not taking our pencil off the page!!!! Such concentration! In Science we created our own classification keys and in French we started our new phonics unit with Language Angels. In Music we were excited to received lots of goodies including lanyards from the English National Opera for a project we are going to embark on.. watch this space!

Week 3 term 1
This week we began our flashback dream stories, using music videos to inspire our flashbacks. In Maths we began our new topic, using written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. In P.E we continued with cricket with Mr Tom and basketball with Venture Sports. In Music we used the computers to come up with word art for our chosen colour (azure) for the English National Opera project. In Science we researched animals and the Linnaean System and in Geography we researched countries in North America, comparing lines of longitude/ latitude and size and climate. In French we continued with our phonics and in Reading we carried on looking at the Nightbus Hero.
Week 4 term 1
This week we began imitating dream stories and in Maths we continued with short division and used an expanded method for long division. We also applied our long multiplication and division to word problems. In Science we set up a mould investigation, placing sealed bread in different places around the school or with different things added to it such as water. In Computing we are taking part in a collaboration unit and researched IP addresses and even remembered different numbers! In Art we used a printing collagraphy technique for city scenes. We also voted for our House Captains and are very proud of everyone who took part or helped out!

Week 5 term 1
This week for English and Maths we continued with our PiXL assessment for Maths, Reading and GPS. We started coming up ideas for our well-being day next week for the rest of the school and on Wednesday we performed our Harvest rap! In Science we looked at our mould results and presented our findings. A lot of staff will be relieved to see the mouldy bread gone from all the random places in school including the staff room! It was a rainy Monday so for P.E we went inside the hall for cricket skills. In Art we began creating artwork of our Black History Heroes, inspired by our homework.

Week 6 term 1
This week was a shorter week but a busy one! In English we wrote up our final dream stories and visited editing stations to improve our work. In Maths we looked at newer concepts such as BIDMAS. In Science we went on a nature walk and created graphs using ICT to present our findings. In Music we continued with our ENO collaborations and in French we continued with our phonemes. On Friday we successfully created well-being stations for the rest of the school including yoga, massage, stories, singing, worry dolls and colouring in. In Art we finished our artwork of our Black History Heroes using ideas from our homework.
Week 7 term 1
This week we put our English National Opera project group work together to create a whole class sound for the colour 'cyan.' In English we began our persuasive unit and were inspired by 'I Have a Dream' by Martin Luther king Jr. In Maths we have been using and applying factors and multiples. This week Ian came in for our KIC theatre sessions where we explored the theme of homelessness to link with our class read 'The Nightbus Hero.' In Geography we went on a field trip around the village. We were sent clips from San Diego from a teacher there and compared our localities. In Art we created a 'worm's eye view' of a city and in French we continued with our phonemes. In Computing we collaborated by using G-Suite to work with other children in other areas of the classroom. We started creating posters on a 'wonder' from North America including places such as the Grand Canyon and Yosemite.
